Mama Chit’s

by: Dudez Perez

In an age where everybody’s a citizen of the World Wide Web, everything’s pretty much accessible now. There is a wide array of How To’s that provides us, netizens, an easy way to do, well, almost everything!Like right now, it seems as if everybody’s turning into quite an epicure even without shelling out a lot of cash for a culinary background. One can turn into a domestic goddess or god with just one flick of your finger or a click of your mouse.

Leaving home can be quite useless when everything can be done on your own now. We just have to amp up our research skills and start googling all our questions or needs because it’s right there! You can get it without having to leave the confines of your shack.

But c’mon, we all know that turning into a geek 24/7 won’t do you good. But sometimes, you have to remove yourself from the virtual world and socialize! For real! Not through social networking but real bonding. Take the time off and hang out with your friends. Explore the city for new great restos!

When most of the people are online liking each others’ posts, I go around looking for the perfect bite may it be at posh restos or budgeted joints. Well, mostly budgeted ones.

If you don’t know where to go, then that’s what I’m here for.

Mama Chit’s Cheeseburger

Each dish has a story to tell and Mama Chit’s Cheeseburger sure is the star of the show – where the sesame buns would stir up intriguing factors because it seems to be draping the burger like curtains in a theater. Once you grab hold of this hefty baby, the symphony of its crunchy sound is a perfect introduction to the soundtrack of this story. One bite is all it takes to get hooked on this bad boy. The patty – the protagonist, which is succulent and moist and commands your undivided attention. Its addictive taste m akes you wanna just do one bite after another, trying to figure out what makes the whole dish so damn tasty. Until you find yourself balling up the wrapper and you’re left wanting more!

Pasta Putanesca

If there’s one thing I’m addicted to, it’s this sexy plate of Pasta Putanesca that is smothered in olive oil and cooked to al dente! Capers, olives, sprigs of rosemary, mushrooms and of course, those delectable ripe tomatoes –  it’s like party in my mouth! Make sure you get every ingredient on every twist of your pasta on the fork. Why? I call it ‘The Perfect Bite’. The marriage between all those ingredients just works. Add some toasted garlic, parmesan and parsley to finish, you’d know you’d be doing a little shimmy with every intake. Plus, a little background flavor from the sautéed garlic never hurts. I get excited just thinking about it. Sometimes, I think I need a little privacy when diving into this plate of heaven. I’m oblivious to my surroundings when I take on this dish. As I open the lid of container when the pasta is served, a whiff of its aroma already shuts me out from the world. It’s all about me and this baby. It’s all so tantric. My lips are bathing in olive oil but man, who gives? You just wanna mop it all up with that garlic bread or even better, with my tongue. So if you want that soulful ride, Pasta Putanesca a la Mama Chit’s is your best bet!

Chicken Sandwich

I ordered my kid something I think that she can tackle. So when I was looking at the menu, I figured Chicken Sandwich must be an easy gobble for my 4 year old. But man, when they served the sandwich, it was as big as the cheeseburger which usually takes me about half an hour to finish! But with its scrumptious bread, the chicken that is enveloped in light and tasty flavors from the mayo and the celery plus the tomatoes and the cucumber to brighten the whole dish that’s not hard to eat. My little girl finished the whole thing without a fuss. My only regret was, I forgot to take a bite from it. But from the look on my kid’s face, the sandwich was delish!

Getting there wasn’t hard at all but for all you who’ve been craving for Mama Chit’s specialties this joint is located at 278 J.P. Rizal St., San Roque, Marikina. All you have to bring is your huge appetite and very little cash. The burger was originally 80 bucks but it upped to a hundred now. The pasta is Php 150 and the sandwich is only a hundred.

So if you like this post, I don’t want you to just go on clicking the like button.

Go and experience Mama Chit’s.

It’s heaven on a plate.
